May recycle challenge
How about this idea for a recycle challenge, since it's spring and time to start planting those gardens: a seed packet

Any takers?

Kathy N. 04-29-2013 05:22 AM

I'm not a gardener so that would leave me out.

Daniel 04-29-2013 07:50 AM

LOL, 'Sherm'. These days I only plant silk flowers.:p The 'seed packet' would be a good 'Spring' challenge on its own, tho'.

So far we've done newspaper & brown bags. If we stick with 'paper' materials (ok by me), we might go for cardboard gleaned from food (or other household) boxes. There's also magazines.

Just like our first 2 recycles, most of us have boxes & mags we throw out.

If any one wants to host the May swap, they are welcome to choose their recyled material, of course. Yes. I know Kathy has offered to host if no one else does, but I'm sure she'd welcome another Poshie offering to host.

I don't mind hosting, but if I can't come up with an idea that people like, there's little point, not even for a challenge.

One more suggestion: incorporating the label from any household product (soup label, tea bag sachet, etc.) Anyone game?

There are lots of pictures of seed packets on the internet that can be dowloaded for free and then printedf off. I have a brown thumb, but at least the packages can look nice! LOL.

I like both ideas so I'm. In either way.

That's the spirit, Janet! While getting pics of seed packets off the net kind of defeats the purpose of the recycling challenge, it could certainly be used in a general card challenge with a Spring or gardening theme. Something to keep in mind.

Anyway, I think I can justify using a seed packet in a "household products" challenge, as a lot of my summer food is grown in the garden.

May 2013 recycle challenge
Hi Everyone! I hope you are enjoying the springtime! (In Switzerland, it has been very slow in coming, and I've only seen the sun in maybe 3 out of the last 14 days, alas.)

I haven't seen anyone else put an idea forward for the May recycle challenge, so I hope no one will be offended if I jump in and post one. May is nearly upon us, after all!

The challenge is to use packaging from food or other household products. Please also use at least one stamped image. You can make any project -- tag, card, journal, scrapbook page or a 3D object. (Daniel, how 'bout a Campbell's soup masque la Warhol?)

I will also randomly choose a winner for a prize -- probably some birthday or holiday message stickers in one of the local languages (French or German).

Now that you've finished up Stampwilly's brown bag challenge, clean off your desk and get ready to start another project! Let's see how you can transform those fig newton packages, cat kibble box tops, and soap wrappers into works of art! I bet you won't be able to stop at just one!

Terrific choice for the recycle, Sherm! Thanx for playing host during May!

LOL on the 'Warhol', Sherm! No secret that I love using labels--food or shipping.

This should be fun!

stampwilly 04-30-2013 06:22 AM

Sounds great! I will be thinking of something. There are a lot of possibilities!

This challenge is perfect for me as I have a drawer full of tea envelopes and soaked off wine and beer bottle labels. I also have a lot of Arizona tea labels because I like the geisha and cherry blossoms on them. I just have to decide what I want to use.

loosluck 05-04-2013 08:29 AM

Good for me too. So many choices, have no idea what I'll do yet.

Here is a recycled themed ATC.
Take a look .......................... and guess what my son got me for Christmas.
Did you guess one of those new fangled coffee makers? You would be correct.
Under the stamping is a coffee lid, and inside the little cups are filters, that is what I made the flowers out of. The paper background was stained from the coffee grounds.

Daniel 05-05-2013 06:41 AM

LOL, Yankee! Your project is good to the last drop! What a fun piece! TFS!:D

stampwilly 05-05-2013 09:24 AM

Yankee, what great use of labels and all the coffee related items! Great take on the challenge! Here is my entry. I used a label from Olay body wash. It was a sticky label that peeled off well and I stuck it to white card stock and than used a die to cut out a shape. I thought this looked like a mermaid in the water, so I used shell stamps from the Posh Spring/Summer vertical set as embellishments. I stamped them on white tag board, cut them out and glittered them. The "beads" is a product called Mudd Puddles. You spread them on with a pallette knife. Thanks for a fun challenge!
