Handmade glimmer mists

On the same site for the angel, I found hand made glimmer mists. It was in the July blog. I liked this one because she used acrylic paint which is only about $1.49 per bottle. Some of the others used alcohol ink and pearlex, which would be almost as expensive as the glimmer mist. She used Folk art acrylic paint that she got at Walmart in Copper, champagne, royal gold and peridot green. She got some empty paint bottles like the ones the paint comes in. Also, at WM. Fill 3/4 full of water. Fill the rest with paint. Shake vigorously. You can get mini misters at Michael's or small misters at WM. Fill from your mixing bottle. Spray 1 or 2 coats on paper. Dry between coats. Then you can stamp out or cut out images. She used From the Sea from CB. to cut out. She coated on top wit Stickles Stardust, Another girl spayed hers on white silk flowers. No fixative needed. The other girl who used the misters from WM put about 3 almost pea sized glass beads in her mister to aid with mixing the paint that settles to the bottom.

I shouldn't have put that under paper products. Can someone change it for me?

You can make them by mixing re-inkers with water and then adding a small amount of pearl Perfect pearls. This way you can even mix your own colors by mixing re-inker colors.

Wish I had all of my old empty bottle from when I did ceramics. Might ask Mike and Terry to save me some of their emptys. They own the shop that I used to work part time at. I took the greenware out of the molds. But that also ended with my last mini stroke.

I was watching youtube about the glimmer mists and went to the store and bought some alcohol and now I see I should have gotten ethyl rubbing alcohol 70% and I bought 70% Isopropyl because I only saw part of the video and was tired. Is there a difference in the way it works? I watched another video about making your own alcohol inks and they all say rubbing alcohol except one which said isopropylene rubbing alcohol. I'm confused. Any help out there in Posh land?

I didn't even know there was different alcohols so I can't help you. Try it with the one you bought and see if it works.

I am wondering how different it works with water or alcohol. I think I will make the first one with water and see the difference because I don't craft enough to probably worry about it and as long as I dry the paper and maybe even iron it a little if doesn't ruin anything, I should save alot of money.

I will gather some bottles and mix to my hearts content. I think if I don't have enough bottles with spray tops I can find some maybe that the spray bottle lid will fit and then just put the sprayer on the ones I want to use at the time and wash the sprayer out. That sounds like too much work and I'm not sure I like that already. *LOL* Maybe I will just keep a couple that way for those seldom used colors. I will ask all my work friends to save their small spray bottles for me and see what happens. I think I will probably gravitate to a couple shinny colors and that will be enough. Maybe; but I am a little OCD so once I start it may become a little thing gone wild. I can see the possibilities already. I even saw on youtube that you can use your old mica eyeshadows and that opens up sooooooooo many color choices for me.
I'm excited and don't have the time to do it right now but what fun!!!!
